Ronald Chen
Ronald (Ron) K. Chen is a Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School and a Judge Leonard I. Garth Scholar. He previously served as dean of the School of Law–Newark and was the first co-dean of Rutgers Law School. A former Public Advocate of New Jersey, Professor Chen teaches Contracts and Federal Courts and litigates civil rights and civil liberties cases through the Constitutional Rights Clinic. He became a Faculty Associate of the Eagleton Institute of Politics in 2020 and has appeared extensively in state and federal courts on constitutional law matters.
Beyond his legal career, Professor Chen is deeply involved in rowing. He served as an umpire at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and numerous international championships and has held leadership roles with the United States Rowing Association and the World Rowing Federation. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Rutgers Law School, where he earned high honors and served as editor-in-chief of the Rutgers Law Review, Professor Chen joined the Board of The Fund for New Jersey in 2025.
