John Cornwall, MD

Chair of the Board of The Fund for New Jersey

Dr. John W. Cornwall is retired from a distinguished career in private practice in internal medicine. In addition, on a part time basis, he was Medical Director of Time, Inc and an instructor in Clinical Medicine at Columbia University. He served as Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the medical board at St. Luke’s- Roosevelt Hospital. He also served as Vice-Chairperson on the New York Citizens’ Committee on Health Care Decisions. 

Dr. Cornwall is the grandson of Charles Frederick Wallace, the inventor who co-founded the Wallace & Tiernan Company, and Florence Murray Wallace. Dr. Cornwall’s father, Joseph C. Cornwall, served as the founding board chair for 27 years and guiding force for nearly 40 years while his mother, Barbara Wallace Cornwall, served as board secretary and trustee during the early years of The Fund for New Jersey. Dr. Cornwall received his undergraduate degree at Williams College and his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has served on Board of The Fund for New Jersey since 1985. He served as Treasurer from 2020-2024 and currently serves as Chair.
