Grizel Ubarry is president and sole proprietor of G. Ubarry Inc. For the last 33 years, she has worked with non-profit organizations, community development corporations, charter schools, businesses, and financial institutions in the development and management of successful community development initiatives. Previously she served as Director of Essex County Housing and Community Development Division, where she managed a $7 million program that helped 18 municipalities improve their housing stock, and rehabilitate their neighborhoods and business districts. She also served as Special Assistant to the New York Commissioner of Human Resources Administration and as Executive Director of Aspira, Inc.
Ms. Ubarry has served on countless boards addressing a broad range of issues throughout the state of New Jersey. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Victoria Foundation and the Don Pedro Development Corporation (a subsidiary of La Casa de Don Pedro) and the South Orange Performing Arts Center. She also served for 28 years as a trustee of the Newark Museum. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Public Administration from Rutgers University. She has served on the Board of The Fund for New Jersey since 2012 and was elected Vice Chair in 2020.
